Exam Three Assignment

For exam three, you are to create a blog and post five entries in it before the day of the exam. Each of the entries must have a different date (so you cannot create the blog the morning of the exam and get credit for it) and at least two of the entries must contain links to other items.

During class this morning, it was demonstrated how to setup a blog using Google's Blogger site. The sample site set up is http://zzzebizzzz.blogspot.com. You can use Blogger, if you want, or you can use anyother blog hosting site - it is your choice.

One of the questions on the third exam (November 21st) will be for you to fill in the address of your blog. That question will be worth 65 (of the 125 total) points. I will check that address to see that the items are there that need to be there and you will either get the points or you will not (an all or nothing question). If you have any difficulties, or questions, you should let me know between now and November 14th (one week before the exam). This three week time period is more than sufficient for you to complete the assignment and I will offer no assistance on it right before the exam.

Topics for Exam Two

The slides of the topics to know for exam two can be found at http://facultyweb.anderson.edu/~eadulaney/3400exam2review.ppt. All of the review questions that I tossed up Thursday were from exam one, so you can ignore that.

Exam Two Assignment

For the second exam, 65 of the 125 possible points will come from an assignment that you have two weeks in which to complete (the remaining 60 points will come from a traditional exam).

For the assignment:
1. You are to post two web pages at http://www.au-answers.com/{yourname}
2. One of those two web pages is to be named index.html and consist of your resume (real or fictitious). Within that resume, you are to include an email link so that someone can contact you. You are also to include a link to a file within the same directory named references.html. There should be one link that goes to the main Anderson University web site and one more (for a minimum of four) that goes to the Falls School of Business opening page.
3. The references.html page needs to include mailto links (real or fictitious) and a link to take the reader back to the resume from which it is assumed they came. Include a minimum of two references.

To complete this assignment, you will need to create the pages in html (using any editor you wish) and post them to the location specifically assigned to you using FTP. The FTP username and password combinations will be given in class on October 3rd.

This assignment MUST be completed by the start of class on October 17th (the date that the traditioanl part of exam #2 is given). I will grade them while you are taking the other part.

OSDL Patent Project Under Attack

A great article on software patents and the movement to try to prevent poor quality patents from being issued (as well as the controversy around such a measure) can be found at http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,2016771,00.asp.
